{scrap mountain}

another quilt i finished in february for the STLMQG'S WOW is this scrap mountain quilt i started in february 2012. it began as a challenge to use up those scraps, of which my solids were overflowing. i had fun piecing it, but once it was a quilt top, really had a hard time loving this one. in fact i didn't like it at all and almost gave it away for someone else to finish.

i WAS excited about the different quilting options available with this one. i used all kinds of colorful aurifil thread i had won and quilted each color mountain with straight lines but in different designs.

the back is almost my favorite.

{baby} quilts

i'm catching this space up with a few more quilts from the end of 2013. here are 3 baby quilts i made this fall.
the first is the pattern busy city by teaginny. i have been adoring this pattern since i first found her quilt. i was ecstatic to be the winner of the pattern and would recommend it to anyone. it's a fabulous pattern, with all of the paper pieced vehicles on cd. i'm happy to call this quilt a scrap quilt {even the background}. this was a lot of fun to make and i'm sure there will be more little trucks in my future.

the quilting is a mimic of the plaid print that is on the back.

the next 2 are the same block. it's the modern maple block that has been all over the internet. i thought i'd try it on a small scale first. i ended up with enough blocks for two quilts.

when you have a friend having a rough go at life, it's always nice to send a little something their way. this is when, for me, all of the random creative inspiration that i've soaked in for months {shall i admit...years?} comes in useful. this project came from one of the first blogs i found. jennifer's blog is full of fun tutorials and patterns to bring handmade items to everyday life.

this is a chic mama wrist cuff. a bracelet, though could also be used a coffee warmer. a chance to bring a little {cloth} love to everyday wear.

i made 3, and had a lot of fun doing so. using scraps, it was a fun chance to bring out details of fabric that sometimes get lost in a bigger project. i found my buttons at a local fabric shop.

i'm sure there will be many more of these to come.

finally!

i'm glad to have this quilt top done. it's grown on me, in it's complete-ness, but there have been many moments  where these triangles had the best of me. it probably didn't help that my 2 toddler 'helpers' thought it was fun to mess up the layout on my floor. oh my.
i think i'll like it even more when i can play with the quilting.

i've been (quietly) (read-no.internet.) playing along and thought i'd share some pictures of my progress. my inspirations were my solids scraps {which have been threatening to take over the sewing room}, a classic old school rainbow color scheme {ROY B GIV}-as i'd never done one-, and triangles. i am in LOVE with all of the wonderful triangle inspiration popping up everywhere.

 i had a fun time playing around with them in various patterns and color combinations and am excited for how this one is turning out.
